The History of these Prints

(21 May 2003)

In 1929 Douglas Cleverdon published a selection of Eric Gill’s engravings produced to the end of 1927. They were all printed from the original blocks or plates in a numbered edition of 400. Most of the engravings had originally been produced for book illustrations, pamphlets , bookplates etc..

In 1934 a second set of prints was published by Faber in an edition of 300. This set included a selection of prints produced between 1928 and 1933.

Eric Gill wrote the preface to both of these editions.
